Advertisment
An advertisement for a concert on the advertiser’s website stated:
“Tickets for Ariana Grande are in demand. Please wait while we check for availability.
2 other people are viewing this event.
Only 212 tickets left.
Less than 1% of tickets left for this event.”
Complaint
The complainant said that the capacity of the venue in question was 14,500 and that less
than 1% of tickets would equate to less than 145 tickets, not 212 as stated. They therefore
considered the advertisement to be misleading.
Response
The advertisers failed to provide a response to the complaint.
Conclusion
Complaint Upheld.
The Complaints Committee considered the detail of the complaint and expressed concern
at the advertisers’ failure to respond to the complaint. They reminded them that there is an
onus on advertisers to ensure that their advertising is in conformity with the Code.
In the absence of a response from the advertisers, the Committee concluded that the
advertisement was in breach of Code sections 3.10, 4.1, 4.4, 4.9, 4.10.
Action Required:
