Complaint
The owner of the veterinary clinic said that the job advertised on the website in question had been filled two months previously but had never been placed with this company. The owner queried how the position could have been published on this website without their knowledge or consent.
Response
The advertisers said that they wished to convey their apologies to the clinic in question whose vacancy had remained listed for two months. They said they were working on a problem which they had identified, where advertisements were not being automatically removed from their website on their expiry date. They said that they had suspended their operation while the problem was resolved.
Further Information:
The Secretariat informed the advertisers that while their comments had been noted they had not addressed the substance of the complaint i.e. why the original posting came to be on their website in the first instance. They asked that a full response be provided to the complaint.
Conclusion
Complaint Upheld.
The Complaints Committee considered the detail of the complaint and expressed their concern at the advertisers’ failure to respond in detail to the complaint. They reminded them that there was an onus on all advertisers to ensure that their advertising is in conformity with the Code.
Action Required:
The advertising must not reappear in its current format. The Committee reminded the advertisers that only genuine vacancies should be posted on their website.
