Two sections on the advertisers’ website that referred to CEASE Therapy stated:
Page 1:
“CEASE Therapy for ASD
autistic spectrum in active metamorphosis
Craniosacral Therapy & Homeopathic Clinic
CEASE (Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression) is a method of therapy specific for the treatment of children (and adults) presenting with Autistic Spectrum symptoms.
Any parents wanting to know more about CEASE Therapy and what it entails should read the book ‘Autism beyond despair’ by Tinus Smits and then go onto the blog pages written by families who are going through the CEASE programme at www.ceasetherapy.com (bottom right of home page are the patient blog pages). These blogs give readers realistic expectations of the possible journey and duration of CEASE. It also highlights the total commitment needed by the family and practitioner.
Anybody wishing to work with me using CEASE should first read the book and blogs suggested above before booking an appointment.
In preparation for your first appointment, ask your doctor for your child’s full medical records including their vaccination passport. (Ensure that the vaccination passport is fully completed, listing all vaccines received, the dates, manufacturer name, batch no. and clearly identifying compound vaccinations (where multiply vaccinations are given as one vaccine).
Also request the vaccination records for both parents of the child.
Ideally I would like to have the medical records and vaccination passports posted or emailed to me before the 1st consultation so that I can review them and make notes.
Please also note that CEASE is not always necessary. Some ASD children progress very well using indicated homeopathic remedies. It is only when these indicated remedies do not work, or work but do not hold, that obstacles to cure are present indicating the need for CEASE.”

CEASE Therapy
What is CEASE Therapy?
CEASE Therapy stands for Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression Therapy
It came into being by Doctor Tinus Smits in the Netherlands, following his successful treatment of hundreds of children in the Autistic Spectrum regardless of severity. CEASE therapy is a combination of Homeopathy, Isotherapy and Orthomolecular Support.
Why do you think Autism has become so prevalent in recent years?
Throughout the ages we have always had people who are more sensitive. In previous generations, these people became the healers, or the ‘knowers’ of society because of their sensitivity. I believe the children who develop autism today are the ‘sensitives’ of this generation and they are here to shows us just how toxic our lifestyle and environment is – even when you think you’re being healthy and making healthy choices!
If you look at the family history of many autistic children, you will see the sensitivity in the parents and very often grandparents. Reactions such as allergies, asthma, eczema, digestion issues and yeast infections are prevalent.
Why are our lifestyles more toxic today than in previous generations, have we not progressed?
Our meat and dairy is pumped with antibiotics and hormones. Our grains are genetically modified and covered in insecticides. In Ireland, our water contains fluoride, a neurotoxin to the brain. Our teeth are filled with amalgam fillings (mercury is the 2 most toxic metal after plutonium). Our digestion system, especially our gut flora is being obliterated by the prolific use of antibiotics. Our sun creams are filled with carcinogens and endocrine disrupting chemicals. Our food has become so alien through genetic modification and the creation of artificial derivatives of sugar, that a computer would struggle to break it down, not to mind the body. Ultimately these complex carbohydrates are causing havoc in the body. Rather that (sic) go into anymore details here, if you’re interested read articles online such as ‘The Cholestrol Myth’ or ‘Sugar: The bitter truth by Dr. Robert H. Lustig’.
Are not our governments and watchdogs making sure we live in a healthy world?
In truth, our so-called democratic system doesn’t work. We may vote in the politicians, but it’s the multinationals, who fund their campaigns, that hold the power. Check out the history of Aspartame and how it has been banned twice by the FDA and yet it’s still in our food and drinks and in fact recently it’s name was changed to ‘Amino Sweet’ due to the bad publicity and this name change was approved by the FDA. So in answer to your question, our governments and watchdogs are mere pawns to the institutions who hold all the money. Check out the share price of pharmaceutical and food companies. Decisions based on raising share price do not consider the effects to people’s health, it’s all about cutting costs, increasing sales and raising profits. We as consumers need to consider this and be more proactive in choosing healthy products. And don’t think because a product is packaged to ‘appear healthy’ means it actually is. Marketing departments are paid millions to deceive the undiscerning consumer.
Autism and Leaky Gut
Their gut flora has been compromised before they even began life and a compromised gut increases the likelihood that their body won’t be able to defend adequately against incoming viruses, bacteria or parasites.
Our grandparents, parents and now also our children have had the gut flora of the bowel devastated every time we’re given antibiotics. The good bacteria of the gut is where the majority of our vitamins and minerals come from and it also plays a huge part in our defense against parasites, viruses and bacteria. The good gut bacteria controls the numbers of opportunistic bacteria and eliminates bad bacteria.
We now have generations of birth control, another contributor because it disrupts the endocrine system of the mother and changes the constituents of her gut flora. So mothers are passing on gut bacteria to their baby that doesn’t have a healthy percentage of good gut bacteria.
Another reason that’s particular to Ireland is the fact that most mothers who had children in the 1960’s and 70’s were not breastfed, so they didn’t receive the good gut flora from their mothers milk instead relying on what came along in the first weeks of existence from their environment and from the milk of a different species (cow, sheep or goat) or milk formula.
So before you even consider the effects of oxytocin at birth, steroids, vaccinations and heavy metals in our food and water supply you have to understand that these children are coming in with compromised guts, so their ability to defend from incoming antigens (viruses, bacteria & parasites) is greatly reduced and then these little souls get bombarded with toxicity through the medical system, our food chain, our drinking water etc.
So why is CEASE so successful?
CEASE therapist are trained homeopaths so they understand and know the symptoms of toxic substances.
It takes 4 years to train as a homeopath and two more years to become a registered homeopath with the Irish Society of Homeopaths. Homeopaths are a mine of information.
For example, I had two amalgam fillings extracted in 2010, however the dentist that day didn’t use a rubber dam and must have had a shaky hand, because one of the fillings went into my digestive tract without my knowledge…the power of anesthesia! Five weeks later I ended up in hospital with a ruptured appendix and was treated with antibiotics (an appendectomy wasn’t an option because my body surrounded my appendix with a fatty tissue called omentum). I was discharged from hospital after four days and one week later I was re-admitted in a critical condition. The medics were labeling me with Crohn’s disease despite the fact that none of my family suffer with digestive issues. They were puzzled. It was during this stay that I recognized the symptoms of mercury poisoning and informed my consultant. Sure enough, when he went back and took a closer look at all the CT scans they had taken, a large metallic object was shining back. I was treated very differently after that, I was like a celebrity on the ward. I was very lucky. My knowledge saved me weeks of investigations, which cause a whole heap of other problems. As it was, it took me 18 months to fully recover from the toxicity of that experience.
CEASE Therapists have access to the symptom picture of every vaccination or compound vaccine given in each country. They also know the picture of heavy metal poisonings, reactions to artificial sugars, food enhancers, prescription drugs, pain killers and over the counter drugs etc.
Do other therapies interfere with CEASE?
As long as there is enough energy in the body to work with the energetic medicine used in CEASE, then there generally isn’t a problem. Protocols that use extensive nutritional supplements can slow the progress purely because all the energy of the body is being expended on breaking down all these nutritional supplements.
I am also a qualified Craniosacral Therapist and this modality works very well at relaxing the body and correcting any structural issues before beginning the CEASE protocol. It’s imperative that the body is relaxed enough and the avenues of detox are open and working e.g. sweat, saliva, urination and passing stools.
How can I learn more about CEASE?
Read the book ‘Autism beyond despair’ by Dr. Tinus Smits. I also recommend parents to read the patient blogs on the home page of Cease Therapy www.cease-therapy.com (bottom righthand corner of the page).
These blogs give readers realistic expectations of the possible journey and duration of CEASE. It also highlights the total commitment needed by the family and practitioner.
Complaint
Issue 1:
The complainant considered that both webpages were creating an unrealistic expectation, particularly by the use of the term “Complete Elimination of Autistic Spectrum Expression”. He considered that the term made a claim of success without any evidence.
Issue 2:
The complainant considered that Page 2 had included false claims as to the causes of Autism.
Issue 3:
The complainant considered that Page 2 had included false claims in regards to detox as part of the treatment.
Issue 4:
The complainant considered that Page 2 created a fear of vaccinations.
Response
The advertisers stated that they were very confident in the work that they did with their clients and felt blessed to know and work with CEASE Therapy and that they would continue to work in this area.
Issue 1, 2 and 3:
The advertisers requested clarification of the complaint and evidence as to where the Executive perceived the advertising lacked truthfulness, honesty and substantiation. They also queried whether the Executive had researched CEASE Therapy.
The advertisers advised that they would remove the five-worded acronym description on their webpage, ‘Complete Elimination Autistic Spectrum Expression’, purely because they felt it was too open for criticism and misinterpretation. They said that the removal had no bearing, nor changed in any way, how they felt about CEASE Therapy and its effectiveness.
Issue 4:
The advertisers stated that the reference to Fear & Distress in the ASAI Code was a subjective emotion. They stated that they had asked all their clients who have children with autism, their target market, to read their webpage and none of them had perceived the emotions of ‘fear and distress’. Again the advertisers asked for evidence of complainant’s claim.
Further information:
The Executive advised the advertisers that primary responsibility for observing the ASAI Code rested with the advertiser and that the onus was on an advertiser to provide evidence for any claims made in their advertising.
The advertisers reverted to advise that they had removed the webpage from their website.
The Executive reviewed the advertisers’ website and noted that Page 2 was no longer available on the advertisers’ website, while Page 1 was still available to view by clicking on the ‘Blog’ webpage and via their ‘Recent Posts’ which was available to view on their ‘Craniosacral Therapy’ webpage and Homeopathy webpage.
Conclusion
The Complaints Committee considered the detail of the complaint and the advertisers’ two responses.
The Committee noted the Code requirements in relation to substantiation, in particular Sections 4.9 and 11.1, and that the results of robust and reputable trials on human subjects, of sufficient rigour, design and execution as to warrant general acceptance of the results had not been submitted to substantiate the claims in the advertising.
Issue 1 Upheld
The Committee noted that the advertisers had advised that they were removing the acronym “Complete Elimination Autism Spectrum Expression” from their website. The Committee noted that Page 2 had been removed from the website, while Page 1 was still available to view. The Committee noted that both webpages had included the full acronym of the term CEASE Therapy. The Committee considered that this term was making a claim in regards to autism for which substantiation had not been submitted. In the circumstances, the Committee considered the use of the term was in breach of Sections 4.1, 4.9, 4.10, 11.1, 11.9 and 11.10 of the Code.
Issue 2 Upheld
The Committee noted that the Page 2 of website had put forward a range of statements in relation to the causes of autism but that substantiation for the claims had not been provided. While the webpage had been removed from the website the Committee considered that this section of the advertising had breached Sections 4.1, 4.4, 4.9 and 4.10 of the Code.
Issue 3 Upheld
The Complaints Committee noted that Page 2 of the website had included general references to toxins at various points and one reference to detox under the “Do other therapies interfere with CEASE?” and they considered that the references implied that detoxing was part of the treatment. While the webpage had been removed from the website, no substantiation or information had been provided in regards to the reference to ‘detox’. In the circumstances the Committee considered that the advertising had breached Sections 4.1, 4.4, 4.9, 4.10 and 11.1 of the Code.
Issue 4 Upheld
The Committee considered that Page 2 of the website had made various references to vaccinations when discussing possible causes of autism. While the Committee noted that webpage had been removed, they considered that the claims could cause fear of vaccinations among consumers, particularly as no evidence had been provided to substantiate the claims. In the circumstances the Committee considered that the advertising had breached of Section 3.23 of the Code.
ACTION REQUIRED:
The advertising must not appear in its current form.
The Committee noted that Page 2 of the website had been removed by the advertisers. The Committee requested that the advertisers remove all references to the acronym ‘Complete Elimination Autism Spectrum Expression’ and they reminded them of their responsibility as advertisers to have substantiation to hand before making any claims in their advertising.
