Social Media Influencer Guidance

If in doubt, label it!

Clear labels

When labelling ads, you must use a clear primary ad label or a platform-provided label. Additionally, you may use secondary ad labels along with a primary label if you wish.

Primary Labels

You MUST include at least one primary label with all advertising content. The label must be at the start of your content and clearly visible.

  • #ad
  • #gifted
  • A platform-provided label e.g. Paid partnership

Secondary Labels

You may use a secondary label in addition to a (and following) primary label. It is not mandatory to use a secondary label.

  • #Collaboration
  • #BrandAmbassador
  • #Sponsored
  • #Affiliate
  • #PRstay
  • #PRinvite
  • #PressDrop
  • #OwnBrand
  • #BrandInvestor
  • #PreviousCommercialRelationship
  • Custom labels (e.g. #IWorkWith[Company])

Example

Not sure if you need a label?

Note: If you are a brand engaging with an influencer, you are responsible for ensuring that any commercial posts relating to your brand by a social media influencer contain the necessary labels. Please ensure the social media influencer follows this guide.
